Kona-The Night before
/Tomorrow is a day of firsts and lasts. My first Kona; my first Ironman. It will also be my last race as an amateur, as I am stepping up to the elite ranks and competing as a professional in the sport of triathlon next season. I am excited to begin this next leg of my athletic journey. It will be a new challenge for me, but no doubt rewarding.
When I wrote that list of goals many months ago the focus of the season was to qualify for Kona. Each day I worked toward that goal and am proud that tomorrow I will be diving into the waters of Kailua Bay for the Ironman World Championships.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of my family, and while they think that I am a little bit crazy they love me and want nothing more than to see me succeed. Perhaps no one has more intimately seen my preparation-the ups and the downs-than Kiley, and without his support I would not be chasing the dreams that I pursued this past season. Thank you all for everything you do to support me, your love, and your enthusiasm, and for following me on my journey. Maholo.
